Agave Experience
Andean Agave Landscape · Full Day
Agave is Andean too. On the dry slopes of the Cordillera Negra it grows wild, and here it has names of its own: penqa, maguey, cabuya. Spend a morning walking among the plants, learn how they become a spirit, and finish by tasting the expressions of AQARÁ Agave de los Andes, with the snow-capped peaks of the Cordillera Blanca in front of you.

Your day
Among agaves and hills
We leave Caraz for the Cordillera Negra for a walk through fields of wild agave. You will learn to recognize the different types of agave and the flora and fauna that live alongside them, and meet the people who work with this plant. If you coincide with the harvest, you take part in the jima and see how the agave “piña” is obtained.
From field to glass
At the distillery you walk through the whole process: from the piña to the spirit. Then comes the guided tasting of AQARÁ Agave de los Andes, with pairings of local sweet and savory bites.
Closing toast
We close with an AQARÁ cocktail prepared by our guide.
